101 Bar London Review
The glass front of Point 101 gives panoramic views over an area you would really rather hide. The two-storey cafe bar under London's most central sky-scraper, Centrepoint, is a magnet for the young, wannabe hip student set, who come here to meet like minded fellows, drink copious amounts of alcohol and enjoy a loud, clubby music policy.
The interior is bordering on cheap, but it just about gets away with the chic 70s retro concept, while the drinks are big on quantity, but not so on quality. Upstairs, a makeshift VIP area is a far more pleasant way to pass the evening and is open to all during the week.

“This bar used to be great - parquet floor, brilliant Robin Day style wooden chairs, open windows so you could people watch, a general sort of 50s / 70s retro feel. All gone in a cheap purple haze - I can' believe how wrecked the decor is. The fabric seating stinks of smoke despite the ban being in place for over a year. The loos were dismal. What happened?!? Never going there again.”

“We had a similar problem, except the bouncer said another bogus reply that it's 'couples only' to me and my friend. He let a lot of random people in while we spoke to him, we asked for his name and he refused to tell us and also didn't let us see the card suspended on his shoulder too. When my friend took out his phone the bouncer attacked him - the other bouncer and myself had to pull him away.
I wouldn't recommend this club to anyone as they ruined a night out for everyone.
If i could rate 101 bar lower than 1 star I would too.”

“I have never been treated so badly by bouncers in any bar in my life. Once getting drinks from the bar, I (a 22 year old woman) went to find my 2 friends who had gone out to the smoking courtyard. This is sectioned off from the bar via a swinging door. Knowing drinks were not allowed outside, I stood in the doorway and called to my 2 friends that I was waiting for them with their drinks. At this point a member of security came up to me, (thinking I was going to take my drinks outside) and when I then let him know I was only waiting in the doorway to let my friends know where I was, he then physically grabbed me, threatened to throw me out of the bar, and then shoved me back into the main bar area. Later, when the bar was closing, one of my friends was physically grabbed by his collar (from a sitting down position) and thrown out of the bar because he commented how rude the staff had been. I thought this was absolutely incredible, and questioned the motives of the bouncers for violently attacking my friend and pushing me about earlier in the night. At this point, the previous bouncer who had grabbed me earlier, came out and accused me of causing trouble, and indeed told me that he "should have done more to me" earlier on.
I just cannot believe that we were treated like this, after just going to the bar for a few quiet drinks. I have never been in this kind of situation before and neither have my friends. We were told the only way to complain about the staff is via ema”

“On the evening of 23/02/07 I met a group of friends for a drink. The bouncers on the door refused to let in two friends. I will not be returning to this bar, the bar staff had delusions of grandeur that is often mistaken as attitude and the interior fit-out was nothing special, the house red was ok.”

“Not a bad venue: I like the late liscence and the decor is ok. Point 101 gets packed after 11 but, all things considered, is not bad for a non-club late drink near Soho.”

“Well located and a decent place to go for a drink. It's fairly darkly lit inside with tealights on the tables, which seem to come from the same place that makes the cheap tables they have at schools. The glass frontage is nice you don't mind being stared at while you drink or watching people outside as you drink. The beverages on offer are quite extensive with a bit of everything available and a few ssandwich things going too. The place is nothing great though you can tell that it's trying very hard to market itself as something from the hip and trendy bag but not doing it too well, a bar that's trying hard to generate a club-like feel to it but this somehow just doesn't fit although they have all that's needed to do it. Not a bad place though just doesn't know what to do with itself or where it's heading, no reason not to have a drink there, though there is no need for the doorman, (they don't attract the people needed for one) it just turns people off and probably adds to the image crisis.”
