Black Lion London Description
The Black Lion is steeped in history and actually used to be a piggery.
Miraculously balancing Traditional English Pub with Metro Chic, this Thames-side gem, perched between Hammersmith & Chiswick, scores full marks for its charming food and bonus points for the lush deserts. Makes full use of its lavish riverside location with weekend BBQs to a chill-out soundtrack, and serves cask conditioned ales, lagers and a superb selection of wines.
Well behaved children and dogs are welcome to bring their parents!
Where else could you see war heroes, yummy-mummies and stars of stage and screen all happily co-existing? Where else would work so beautifully as a venue for Father’s Day and a first date?
But it’s the little details that really seem to be making the customers cluster, like the care taken over garnishing your choice of drink. No chucking a paper thin slice of lemon into a glass here: generous wedges of lemon and lime are squeezed before your eyes, and gin connoisseurs who favour a glass of Hendrick’s get it served as it should be, laced with cucumber.
Table service is not forced down your throat: it’s your choice, and simply a way of making you feel looked after and sparing you queuing at the bar. The staff are all individuals, not name-tagged automatons, who pamper you without patronizing you, and the real ales are served with as much love as the decorous jugs of Pimms.

This place is alright but the waiting staff are HORRIBLE and discriminating! We did not even get to eat here as they were doing everything possible not to serve us. Don't go here, go to the Old ship or somewhere else a lot nicer along the river. Would be a nice pub if they didn't employ such horrible sarcastic people.”

A wonderful traditional pub on the river, good quialty food and a huge garden with ample seating for the summer. A very enjoyable place for a few drinks with friends, not packed to the hilt like the Old Ship or The Dove.
Fun quiz on a Sunday night and live music every Thursday makes the Black Lion my favourite pub on the river.
Check it out. You'll be pleasantly surprised.”

A fantastic cosy pub on the river in Hammersmith with real ales and a good selection of lagers and wine. Opening a French Restaurant mid November which I will definitely be checking out. New management making a nice change.”
