El Camino Mexicano Restaurant & Bar London Description
The bar, located in the basement, opens at 6pm and is styled after a speakeasy, lit by candles and treads the line between stylish and Mexican kitsch. Four large banquettes under arches form ‘caves’ which can be booked for groups of up to 10, with plenty of bar stools and tables for smaller gatherings. Heading up the bar is the legendary Dick Bradsell, who has put together a menu of margaritas (including Tommy’s Margarita, sweetened with agave syrup) and batidas (a creamy, sweet drink with a Sagatiba base). The bar also specialises in Mezcal, a drink based on smoked agave hearts, perfect for sipping. An abridged version of the ElCamino Mexicano menu is served here, including huge bowls of nachos, covered in pinto beans, cheese, guacamole and toppings such as ground beef. The bar becomes members only after midnight, with access through its own door onto Brewer Street door, and closes at 3am.
