The Moose Bar London Review

Tucked away in the corner of Duke Street, throwing distance from Selfridges is Moose bar. A rare find of rustic, rugged décor, coupled with delightfully cheap cocktails.

The place was packed on a Thursday night and it's easy to see why. Happy hour is in fact happy four hours from 5-9pm. The owner has obviously been on holiday to Canada as the cow hide seats, antlers and pictures of the Rocky Mountains make me feel like I'm in a log cabin in the Canadian Rockies.

My friend and I settle down to our passion fruit mojitos and at £3.75 each it's not long before we're back at the bar ordering more. There's a real buzz from the after work crowd and a real mix of cultures. The guys to our right are Greek and work in advertising, the girls to our left are Persian and work in Selfridges.

After we work our way down the extensive cocktail list we wander downstairs to find a dance floor and a hip DJ blasting out tunes. The only thing I'd say is that the toilets were disappointing in that they reminded me of a 1950's working mans club but certainly not enough to put me off the place.

There were groups of after work drinkers, people on dates and lots of groups of girls hunting for a stag. The Greek guys in advertising were in their element and couldn't have been more pleased when they offered to buy a drink that they weren't giving away half their wages. This place has something for everyone… finding a Moose is optional. Melissa Davis (26 06 2008)

The Moose Bar London Description

Acclaimed interior designer Shaun Clarkson has fashioned The Moose Bar as a rustic skiing lodge. Think cream timber, Nordic murals, and cow hide seats.

Set over two floors and featuring a cocktail bar and basement bar & club, Moose is open 6 days a week and with live DJ’s on it’s increasingly popular club nights.

Located right beside Selfridges and boasting an extensive cocktail menu, The Moose Bar offers the perfect refuge from the chaos of Oxford Street.

Loved

"I was so impress when we walked through Brompton Quarter Brasserie's door, it is spacious, sophisticated and the staff were friendly and professionals. The food is simple and delicious, they have a gourmet..." Which venue is this?

Hated

"The staff was awful: rude and obnoxious. Bouncers made the evening really miserable by being rude and condescending to all who entered including me. Completely unwarranted for such a small unremarkable..." Which venue is this?
