“This gay bar is all about the music... admittedly the sounds of the 80s and 90s, for a 40 something vaguely alternative gay crowd. Pop quiz night and the monthly Eurovision event (downstairs) are the highlights.”

“This paradise in the middle of the theatre district is a great place to meet friends gay or straight. The friendly staff and theme nights(games/rock trivia etc) make for a fun evening, wish it could stay open later. Or go to the upstairs bar for a quiet chat. My favorite pub in London. Cheers. Jake.”

“I second Maurice. How dare they treat us old fags like that. All I wanted was a few pints of snake bite on my birthday and they hands me a shandy. How very dare they...”

“Hello retro bar. I was 65 today on the 28th May, and I thought I would visit the Retro bar with a younger friend (37). Sadley, the Bar lady, Wendy Lestoy, decided that because I had a drink earlier in the day, I was not eligible for another drink in the Retro Bar, even though I was perfectly well behaved and with my friend.
It is quite apparent to me and also to my friends; that this was blatently, a demonstration of overtly ageist discrimination. And can only say, that if, this bar does not want people of my age drinking there, it would be more honest and less hurtful, if they made that clear from the door, with a sign, saying that this bar is only for people under the age of 40 perhaps?
I certainly would not set foot in such a place, if I had known that I would have been treated by the staff there, in such a disgusting way.
Maurice Hoadley. Sunday 28/05/2006”
